From Phoenix, Route # 1:
Travel west on I-10 (towards California) through Buckeye, Arizona, to Exit 112.  Taking Exit 112 heads south to State Route 85 towards Gila Bend.  37 miles to Gila Bend. This is to see what kind of things you are bringing into the country. They will probably open doors and/ or trunks so be polite and cooperative and you should be on your way in no time.

You are now in the town of Sonoyta.  You will come up to a 3 way stop approx. 2 miles ahead.  Stay to the left towards Puerto Penasco/Santa Ana.  Do Not go West toward San Luis.  Cross over the Rio Sonoyta Bridge and stay to the right at the Y in the road (a few hundred yards).  This road is Mexico Route 8 to Puerto Penasco.  The road is a well maintained  2 lane road for the next  62 miles to Rocky Point.  Be aware  of livestock that may wander onto the road due to no fencing along roadside.
