Charter flights bringing Tourists to Rocky Point

In an effort to make the most of the traditional high season for national tourism, Sonora State government has joined forces with the City of Puerto Penasco and local tourism-related businesses to bring charter flights from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua to Puerto Penasco. The first such flight, was on July 30, a 737 Boeing serial 300 with  136 passengers. This flight was planned on the basis of positioning Rocky Point as the first choice for a beach destination. It was 1 hr, 15 min flight and the tickets were sold by a travel agency from out of El Paso.
 
The second flight topped the record of the first, making it necessary to use a second plane to accomodate all of the families who wanted to spend the school break by the wonderful beaches in Rocky Point.
